A dedicated offshore wind power pier is needed at Gunsan Port’s 7th pier to support the large and heavy cargo yard under construction. With a 44.1 billion KRW investment, the yard will play a key role in the region’s offshore wind farms, including a 2.1GW project by 2029.

ADVACT, specializing in suction bucket technology, has relocated to Gunsan and is producing most of its offshore structures there. However, current port infrastructure is insufficient for handling large offshore wind structures, highlighting the need for a dedicated pier.

Local companies and officials emphasize the importance of this development to support assembly and transportation of offshore wind structures. Gunsan city officials are considering practical solutions.
